The Euregio.Net Team
(H. Savelberg, J. Savelberg, B. Welsch, B. Dannemark)
1. SAVELBERG Hubert - General Manager
Hubert brings 20 years of computer experience with him and has been
online since 1986. He founded Euregio.Net in 1995 as the first ISP in
the German-speaking part of Belgium and established the company as the
market-leader in this region. He sits on the board of various industry
commissions, such as the DNS.BE quality board. Hubert is a founding member of the Belgian ISPA (Internet Service Provider Association). He is a frequent guest
speaker on e-commerce, web development, online marketing and general
Internet issues.
Before getting into the Internet industry, he was already a
successful salesman and entrepreneur. He created the largest Macintosh
computer club in Europe where he published books, CD-ROMs and a monthly
electronic (hypertext) magazine. He also organized annual computer conferences drawing more than 10,000 attendees.
In his free time, Hubert enjoys walking the dog and working on
his Goggomobil old timer car. He's also one of the original weather
photographers for the Flemish TV.
2. SAVELBERG Jochen (aka Joe) - Technical Director and Online Producer
Jochen, or Joe as most English-speaking people call him, has also
got 20 years of computer experience. When his father brought home one
of the first Macintosh computer in early 1984, he learned pretty
quickly how to manipulate the computer to accomplish what he wanted to
do. Since those times, he's had hardly any day without working in front
of a monitor. Joe studied marketing and computer science in Liège,
Belgium. He's been online since 1989 (BBS) and on the Internet since
1993.
His computer skills include programming of anti-virus software,
developer tools as a well as the creation of in-house utilities to
publish digital content and keeping Euregio.Net's Internet
infrastructure up and running. Joe likes toying around with the latest
technologies -- helping Euregio.net's customers to stay ahead of the
pack. This led to numerous speaker engagements around Europe and the
USA.
In 1996, the EasyScopes Entertainment Network was created by Joe and
he still runs and develops those web sites. Thinking of new ideas is
one of his favorite pastimes. His most acclaimed idea was for the
Millennium festivities in Times Square, New York City.
When he's not online, Joe enjoys playing darts and pool billiard,
motor sports, dancing and travelling -- especially to Australia where he
spent 6 months after high school as an AFS exchange student.
3. WELSCH Brigitte - Content Manager
Brigitte gained a lot of managerial experience during her many years
of work in Germany as a personal assistant. She graduated with majors
in languages and office management. She's fluent in German, French,
Dutch, English and Spanish. She keeps Euregio.Net's office running even
when the IT staff and creative folks run amog.
During 20 years of computer work she deepened her already broad
knowledge in many different fields. Brigitte knows how to write
successful ad copies and press releases, host international
conferences, develop catalogs, and she even finds time to moderate a
web site about child protection.
Brigitte likes reading, languages, travelling, collecting postcards, and solving puzzles.
4. DANNEMARK Bruno - Support Manager
Bruno comes to Euregio.Net with a broad knowledge of the computer
industry. After studying history at the University of Brussels he
joined the largest Macintosh computer club in Europe as the editor for
the French magazine. He was also the IT support person of choice for
club members. Bruno has been online for 13 years, he is a real Internet
insider and was actively involved in making Euregio.Net the premier ISP
in Eastbelgium. If you've got a problem and he can't find the solution,
then the task must be impossible. After you've talked with him, you
wish that all support managers were this friendly, organized and
helpful.
Besides running the support department at Euregio.Net, Bruno works
closely with the creative staff and technical folks to bring you great
looking web sites under the EasyBusiness label by talk2us.be. He's the
liaison manager bringing together all the pieces that are necessary for
a successful web site.
Outside of Euregio.Net, Bruno enjoys testing new technologies,
reading, music, and the great outdoors. He's a successful soccer coach.
5. TOPS the dog - our office mascot

Many people ask us about the origin of Tops' name. There are many
stories about her name. You could think that "Tops" is the backward
spelling of "spot" - which might be appropriate for a dog.
Our boss wanted to call the dog "Mädchen" (the German word for girl
or girlie). Running around the office shouting "Mädchen" could have
caused quite some embarrassment.
However the name actually comes from the file-sharing program called
Tops (for Macintosh System 6 & 7) which was marketed by Sun
Microsystems and Sitka during the late 80s and early 90s.
As a young dog, Tops also liked to share files
and things, i.e. carrying stuff from one office to another one. Luckily
we didn't use TCP/IP and FTP during the days we were looking for an
appropriate name... ;-)
